The EAGLE Project

2. Moulding the base

All the pieces of a complicated base mould
Here the mould for the eagle base can be seen in pieces -- both the hard outer shell of the mould (white) and the interior rubber "skin" which captures all the details of the original sculpture. Moulding this base is particularly challenging as there are so many different sections to the branching tree-like base and many "under-cuts" requiring the mould to be in multiple pieces (not simply a left and right half that fit together simply). A mould must be similarly made for the eagle itself. The stages of the moulding process are described more fully on the page dealing with the LION TABLE project.
