Here's what's new at Rod's Ragtime Website in Winter & Spring 2007:
Basically, everything!
In the past, a few ragtime pieces were simply included in my other music website. But preparations for a ragtime concert in Quebec City in November 2006 forced me to begin to resurrect my long-forgotten rags from the 1970s. Foolishly, I had not written many of them down -- except sometimes for little scraps of manuscript paper here and there. But fortunately I had a cassette recording my playing of all these rags (sometime in the 1970s or 1980s). With this in hand (together with some software that permitted me to slow down the replay while not changing the pitch, I have been able to deciper my early scribbles and prepare complete scores of a number of my rags. This process is continuing. For that reasons, some of the rags listed here have both sound files and scores and others have just sound files (but hopefully will have scores in the future).
At any rate, with this recent activity, it seemed appropriate to split out the ragtime compositions from my other music -- and that led to the creation of this section of the website. So pretty well everything you'll see in this section is new.
Unfortunately, if you stray into any of the other parts of our larger RodMer website (covering poetry, short stories, painting, and sculpture), you will find the pages seriously out of date. I hope to get at overhauling and updating them in the coming months.
