Metamorphosis (as in the catalogue -- before glaze applied)
- plaster with resins, epoxy resin, acrylic (1997)
- height x width x depth: 68" x 17" x 10"
- not for sale
- Metamorphosis arose from a startling scene I came across in my garden: a caterpillar in the process of pupating. I felt shy as if in the presence of something sacred. It seems considerate to turn our gaze during those awkward moments when our friends or children are in mid transition: trying out new selves.
- This photograph was before the glaze had been applied to the white surface.
