Merike Lugus stands with her "Thief of Childhood," one of many large, colourful paintings that make up the featured exhibit at the Upstairs Gallery in Port Hope. Also known as a sculptor, writer and poet, Ms. Lugus presents an intensely personal viewpoint in highly symbolic paintings. The show, which also includes a group exhibit by area artists and photographers, runs through May 1 at the gallery, upstairs at 38 Walton St., Port Hope.
